The album features Carissimi's most famous work, the masterful oratorio Jephte, alongside two of his rarely performed virtuoso motets. It also includes the astonishingly theatrical Cristo smarrito, by Domenico Mazzocchi, Carissimi's contemporary in Rome. The works on the
