One side of the Bakelite lid is broken off and there is some cracking

It does shoe light wear and there are color variations in the glaze in a few places. Coasters show some wear. This is a krug, not a stein. "Stein" is what English speakers and tourists say. In German a stein is a stone, and is not used to describe a beverage container.
