It was founded in 1989 with the aim of rescuing the forgotten indigenous varieties of the area. Graciano was once much more widely planted in Spain, and is undergoing a renaissance of sorts as a new appreciation takes hold. The Graciano varietal adapts very well to a hot climate such a Navarra.
