Hemp/Ramie Stiff Papery Indigo/Black Textured Crinkled Asa Jofu from Japan, by the Yard, #331 Whole Bolt Vintage fun: Jack traveled toBlack weft and blue warp, creating a look of dark midnight blue. Small crinkles from the twisted threads; perhaps technically a crepe weave. It's thin, with a hard not fluffy surface, and lightweight; less than 2 ounces per 14" wide yard. VERY stiff, papery and bouncy. (Far from silk!) Both sides are just the same. It's slightly see through; the weave has a bit of openness. We machine washed and dried a piece and it shrunk, crinkled more and closed up
