so here at the Mines we decided to give it a new life as a book carving

The book is sealed shut and cannot be read

But this only came to me as I was carving the piece for me the illustrations just worked and it also can represent the good old fashioned horror movies of the damsel in distress and she need to be rescued

When this book came to the studio it has quite literally fallen apart, the stitching had come away and the fabric cover was coming away. It gave me the feeling of being in a shed full of cobwebs and eaten by snails. The book has been cleaned and given lots of TLC to save it from the bin. I have a book of spiders that I have wanted to use for a while and this idea came into being,
