It locks on with 3 quick release fasteners and adds a noticeably larger platform, so wide loads sit flat instead of teetering on the edges of the rack. The raised front lip help keep big bags from sliding forward when the road gets rough. Once its on, strapping gear down is simple thanks to all the open tie down points.
